207: 10 Steps to Starting Your Service Business

I speak with Becky from the UGA SBDC on the steps you need to take when you’re first planning to start your service contracting business.

1. Be sure to have your trade license.
2. Create your business plan.
3. Create your marketing strategy.
4. Budget your working capital for 3 months.
5. Talk with your insurance agent to determine the proper coverages.
6. Google search your name to ensure your domain is available.
7. Talk with your lawyer and CPA to decide what type of corporation you are going to file.
8. Apply for your Secretary of State for your legal business name.
9. File for your Federal Tax ID.
10. Apply for your local business license.
